Always Active Program to Come to Inner Sunset, Looking for Community Connector

Community Living Campaign

 

Always Active is a popular senior exercise and community gathering that has seen much success in other parts of the city.   Inner Sunset resident and former Inner Sunset Park Neighbors board member Judy Goddess has secured funds for this program through both District 5 (formerly London Breed’s office now Vallie Brown) and District 7 Norman Yee’s office to bring Always Active to the Inner Sunset.  The program relies on a “community connector” to reach out to the community and invite them to the program as well as design the activities and classes.   This is project of Community Living Campaign which organizes to help individuals age in the community.  St John of God church at 5th Ave and Irving will be the location for the program.

COMMUNITY CONNECTOR Part-Time Paid Opportunity

Help “turn strangers into neighbors, and neighbors into friends.”

We are looking for leaders interested in building community to support older adults and adults with disabilities in their neighborhood.

We’re looking for neighbors who:

Have strong community connections
Are good listeners
Have excellent interpersonal and group skills
Are organized and punctual
Are familiar with social media or are willing to learn

As a Community Connector, you would:

Help schedule activities and workshops in your community
Provide logistical support to an Always Active senior exercise class
Have access to a wide range of classes and workshops taught by skilled facilitators Receive initial training and on-going leadership support from the Community Living Campaign
Share ideas and get support from Community Connectors in other neighborhoods.

How to Apply

Positions are available for Community Connectors as part of a growing effort to help local leaders reach out and reweave community support for older adults and adults with disabilities. Position is part-time hourly employee at $23.50 per hour for an estimated 5 to 10 hours per week.
