Event Details

You’re invited to a brainstorming session on Wed., Jan. 7 from 7-9 pm to discuss what Inner Sunset residents might want to see in the way of improvements to the Golden Gate Park area along Lincoln Way between 5th and 7th Avenues. Please join us at the meeting space of the Sunset Heights Association of Responsible People (SHARP), 1736 9th Avenue between Moraga and Noriega.

The idea is to continue the great work that went into the 2012 grant application that the Lincoln Way Greenway group produced with support from the Inner Sunset Park Neighbors and possibly to craft a new application for Community Opportunity Funds. (Deadline this year is April 3.)

We’ll have a brief presentation on the Community Opportunity funding process and then we’ll think together about what a proposal might include for this area that’s the closest thing to an “Inner Sunset Park.” Perhaps such elements as:

– better lighting on the 5th Ave. pathway (sought by park neighbors)
– a better dog play area (sought by dog owners)
– benches or a picnic table (by the Public Bench Project?)
– a storage container for emergency response supplies, sought by the Friends of the Inner Sunset Emergency Response Team (Friends of IS NERT)
– murals (a goal of the Inner Sunset Murals group) – just don’t call them “art;” they’d be “beautification elements” in a fund proposal
– and/or others!
But the first step is to share information about this process and gather your ideas.  Feel free to invite others who might be interested!
