The annual Dahlia show is back this weekend at the County Fair building next to the San Francisco Botanical Garden. Check out hundreds of blooms and vote in the contest. 10-5 Saturday, 10-4 Sunday. Free!
For parents of little ones, UCSF in the Community is hosting a "Touch a Truck" event on 9/12 - an opportunity to see and board some of the big machinery and equipment being used to build the new hospital and research facilities at the Parnassus campus. Applications are still open for the Inner Sunset Vibrancy Fund. Up to $20k in grants to help with storefront beautification, technical assistance, and new and emerging businesses. Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis, and the fund closes on 8/28. Please share with businesses in the neighborhood!

The San Francisco County Transportation Authority recently approved the Inner Sunset Transportation Study, and there's a lot in it for our streets. The study, requested by Supervisor Melgar and informed by two rounds of community input, includes near-term improvements such as better crosswalk markings at intersections, an upgraded bike lane on 7th Avenue, and consolidated transit stops on Judah to improve bus service reliability. Longer-term, it calls for more public space on Irving Street between 5th and 9th Avenues and better parking management along the N Judah corridor.$150,000 in Prop L funding has already been allocated to begin construction of the 7th Avenue bike lane.
