Sutro Stewards Offering Summer Internship – Deadline May 29th

Conservation Internship

The Sutro Stewards program is growing! We are looking for a talented individual passionate about our local environment and seeking hands-on experience working on local conservation projects. With guidance from the Conservation Manager, the Conservation Intern will work on restoration ecology, seasonal planning, and site monitoring and mapping projects throughout Mount Sutro. The Conservation Intern will also provide leadership to volunteers carrying out stewardship projects on event days. The ideal candidate will have an interest in local conservation, some experience with ecology, natural resources, habitat restoration, or native plants and be actively pursuing a degree in or related to environmental science.

Commitment
We are looking for a commitment of 10-15 hours per month through summer on a regular schedule to be established by our managers. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Compensation
Sutro Stewards will offer recommendations and/or school credit, if pre-arranged through your faculty advisor, at the completion of your internship. This is an unpaid position. Interns gain hands-on knowledge in our native plant nursery, performing work in the field, receive training to support volunteer activities, and are assigned special projects that relate to their educational or personal goals.

To Apply

The Sutro Stewards are a unique non-profit organization dedicated to creating urban recreational opportunities while practicing sustainable habitat conservation. Through a successful volunteer program, we continuously connect people to their local environment and empower recreational users to conserve, maintain, and enhance the spaces they enjoy. Please submit resume and letter of interest outlining your qualifications to Joanne Wu at joanne@sutrostewards.org by May 29, 2015.
