29aug7:00 pm8:30 pmUnderstanding the Presidential Election, with Melissa Michelson

Event Details

MONDAY, AUGUST 29, 2016 7pm

We will look at the election through the eyes of someone who studies elections. Melissa Michelson is a professor of political science, a widely quoted authority on Latino voter turnout, and the prize-winning co-author of two books and numerous articles. Among other topics, she will discuss the strategies of the candidates and their campaigns.  How in particular are they trying to win?  What actually affects the way people vote and, just as importantly, whether they decide to vote in the first place? What do we really know about this campaign, and what do we think we know that may well be untrue? Go beyond the heat of the campaign with a person who can shed some light on it.

SHARP meetings occur on the last Monday of the month, at 7 p.m., at their meeting space—the ground floor of 1736 Ninth Avenue (between Moraga and Noriega).
