AL MINVIELLE (Co-president)
I am a 40-year resident of the Inner Sunset and original founding member of Inner Sunset Park Neighbors. I participated in the successful undergrounding project for the eastern portion of the neighborhood. I spent 6 years organizing the Annual Park clean-up projects and working with the city to control traffic at 5th Ave. and South Drive . I worked at UCSF as the director of Millberry Union and promoted partnerships between the University and neighborhood in the area of fitness, recreation and arts programming.
My area of interest is the development of a neighborhood plan, designed by residents, that will provide direction to future changes. A proactive approach to planning will direct resources to efforts that positively impact our neighborhood.

LAWRENCE ROSENFELD (Vice President & Treasurer)
I have been associated with the Inner Sunset since 1994 and a permanent resident since 2006 when I retired from my engineering Manager job in the North Bay. My wife, Meg and I were here for the huge undergrounding project and saw first-hand the power of a cohesive neighborhood organization. I was part of the group that came together after the 2008 AT&T protests to bring ISPN back from deep slumber, and have held the post of Treasurer since the first board was elected in March of 2009.
I see the Inner Sunset as a sort of village that happens to exist within the boundaries of San Francisco. I think we have the privilege of a certain amount of self-determination as to how we want our neighborhood to be, and want to help provide the infrastructure for my neighbors - both residents and merchants - to get involved and practice that self-determination.

ROBERT SMITH
An Inner Sunset that is like a neighborhood in Paris, or any other resident-centered, agreeable, cheerful, thought-out village elsewhere in the world. That is my hope.
Those who run the city should be prodded to get rid of above-ground utility wires; have traffic lights that work; open up some pedestrian space; introduce a bit of public art; tend, develop, and beautify the neighborhood.
We have a hospital, medical school, and other institutions that call themselves world-class; they should be energetically encouraged to help make the neighborhood from which they profit world-class. They rely on our safe and vibrant neighborhood, and they should make a commitment to us.
We have other magnificent resources, but they sometimes seem to exist largely for tourists. The tourists hasten through and past us to the park, arboretum, and museums. We should forge links with the museums and other institutions-including the banks that line our streets, and the other merchants-to develop a showplace neighborhood; this would benefit them as well as us.
And we should reach out to other neighborhood and civic organizations, city-wide.
You can put me in the pie-in-the-sky category. But consider: The Farmers Market seemed improbable-yet here it is every Sunday.
I've had a broad education that includes Harvard College, Yale Law School, and Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism. I've practiced various professions, here and abroad.
I am proud to have served in the administration of President Jimmy Carter.
While I've lived in San Francisco for 35 years, I have also lived in London, Paris, Oxford, and Barcelona, among other places. I would like to see some of the best features of those cities incorporated into the Inner Sunset.

WALTER VAN RIEL
I have lived in the Inner Sunset neighborhood with my wife Maria, and two children, Katrien and Julia since 1994. I lived in Belgium for my first 22 years and moved to the US to receive a MS degree in Computer Science. Most of my working life was spent in the high tech industry in Silicon Valley as an engineer, ranging from Intel, start-ups, Silicon Graphics, and Healtheon/WebMD. Since 2000, I changed my focus to parenting my daughters, managing real estate investments and supporting my wife's pediatric clinic in San Bruno. I love San Francisco and the Inner Sunset and have been actively involved in maintaining and improving the quality of life in the neighborhood. On Sunday mornings, you can find me playing on a soccer field.
