Blue Courage is a reform-minded training program that teaches police officers to think of themselves as a community’s guardians, focusing on the quality of the policing process, rather than the number and types of arrests and convictions. Lieutenant Jack Hart is a lawyer and veteran police officer in the SFPD who conducts Blue Courage training.  He will speak about what San Francisco is doing to avoid the tragedies that have recently afflicted Ferguson and other cities.
